Actias was built for this moment.
Market Research
1 in 14 California children struggle with a serious emotional disturbance.
Actias is designed for the subset of students who are both academically capable and significantly limited by anxiety, depression, trauma, or school avoidance.
By conservatively combining state prevalence data with academic profiles, we estimate that at least 7,500–13,000 high school students in our 7-county region would benefit from a therapeutic, college-preparatory high school like Actias; a number that is significantly higher than the current number of seats available in existing alternative schools.
Why Actias?
Many Bay Area alternative schools offer flexible academics but no intensive therapy, while therapeutic programs lack a college-prep path.
Actias fills that gap as a therapeutic day high school that stabilizes students, rebuilds confidence and belonging, and supports their return to less-restrictive schools with momentum.
We integrate a nature-based environment, attachment-focused therapy, strong parental involvement, and challenging experiential academics to make learning engaging and meaningful.
Students rediscover motivation, develop agency, and gain the confidence to thrive in other school environments.
